celebrated our Quarter 3 students with an award ceremony

On Monday we began our 4th quarter and celebrated our Quarter 3 students with an award ceremony. We are very grateful to the families who came to support their students here at Sierra High School. During the third quarter 80 full-time students earned 2090 credits, an average of 26 credits each. That is the equivalent of one semester earned in just 40 days of school.

These excellent students earned awards for excelling in subject areas, exhibiting the qualities of P.R.I.D.E., never being tardy, citizenship, and service appreciation. If you get the opportunity to know any of these students earning these awards, they come with our highest recommendation! They are each wonderful, hardworking, and caring young men and women.

We had a busy day for finals day! A representative from the Army came and spoke to students about all of the different careers that are available within the Army. We also had a representative from Ventura College come and table with our future Ventura College students for their First Year Experience program. We are making sure all of our students know the expansive list of options available to them after they graduate. Just two more days left in Quarter 3!

Ventura College Field Trip

10th through 12th grade students from Sierra High took a field trip to Ventura College and learned about all the trade programs they offer. Students toured the child development department, automotive, architecture and drafting, EMT, and manufacturing programs. They received hands on presentations given by each department and learned about all of the financial aid and career opportunities associated with each field. Students left the field trip feeling eager and inspired! Thank you Ventura College!

Happy Pal-entines Day!

Happy Pal-entines Day! Sierra students felt the love today with hot cocoa, rock painting, receiving valentines from our ASB team, and small chocolate roses from Mrs. Henrey. We had students coordinate their own Gal-entines exchange and everything! Our Kindness ticket award winners received huge gift baskets of goodies from our counselor Miss Jackie. Those winners were Monique Manriquez, Adalia Velasquez, Mark Morales, and Bernardo Gaytan. Congratulations to everyone who earned kindness tickets!

thankful to have the wonderful Miss Jackie Gonzalez as our school counselor

Sierra High School, Heritage Valley Independent Studies, and FIllmore Adult School are all proud and thankful to have the wonderful Miss Jackie Gonzalez as our school counselor. She manages to monitor the transcripts of every student, meet with individuals, mentor students, meet deadlines, and so much more while always keeping her personality and core values at the forefront of all she does. When asked what core value is most important to her she chose JOY. It is very clear that she spreads joy to all she meets and she also helps others find their joy as well. Thank you for being on this mission of compassion for our students and all you do for our students, families, and staff!

We wish you a great week of appreciation!
