Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated May 2nd through the 6th this year with today, May 3rd, being Teacher Appreciation Day. National Teacher Appreciation Day, also known as National Teacher Day, recognizes dedicated educators across the country. As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, the celebration takes place on the Tuesday of the first full week in May each year. Each May, California salutes the important contributions of classified school employees during Classified School Employee Week (CSEW). Classified Employee week is celebrated May 15th through the 21st this year. Fillmore Unified School District will be combining Teacher Appreciation Week and Classified Employees Week together May 9th through the 13th.

On Monday, April 25th, the Early Academic Outreach Program at UC Santa Barbara hosted an event to celebrate the students admitted to the University of California. Mrs. Luna-Lopez, EAOP College Site Coordinator, has made a huge impact on providing college preparation services to our students at Fillmore High School. The program included a presentation of awards and of State Proclamations from local Senate and Assembly members, a student keynote speech, raffle prizes, and a delicious dinner catered by Ay Chihuahua. It was a beautiful event for our students and their families!
Fillmore High seniors attended VC Pirate Day. Students were able to leave with a complete intro to student services offered at VC, get with a counselor and complete their schedule for this coming Fall, check on their financial aid package, and overall experience a new community.
I am excited to announce that our 2021-22 Staff Members of the Year have been selected.

Prom 2022
The Robotics, IT, Auto, and Ag Mechanics classes were on hand as the VC Sheriff's Department Bomb Unit came out today to give a presentation on ordnance disposal and the use of robots in their jobs.

Update: Phone lines are now working at all school sites and the district office.
Early this morning Piru residents received notification of a missing person who was deemed armed and dangerous in the city of Piru. FUSD is in contact with the Ventura County Sheriffs Department And has received confirmation that the suspect is in custody and there is no threat to any of our schools schools.
Additionally, we have received notice from our service provider that all school phone land lines are down. If families need immediate assistance, please reach school personnel by email. We will provide an update as soon as possible.
